Helmuth Rilling, crowned with Herbert von Karajan prize, conducts Messiah
(06.11.2012)
Composed 270 years ago, Händel's Messiah remains one of the most popular and iconic works in the repertory. Although Handel was living and working in London at the time he composed Messiah, the first public performance of the oratorio took place in Dublin. As if the size of both metropolises influenced the work's fate, Händel continued to revise and recompose the Messiah, so the original version gradually gained a pomposity and size.
An exceptional impression from this concert is guaranteed as one of the most respected choral conductors in the world, Maestro Helmuth Rilling, will be conducting. Under his baton, the Czech National Symphony Orchestra and Czech Philharmonic Choir of Brno will accompany excellent soloists.
